About spinal cord injury
A spinal cord injury (SCI) affects the messages between the brain and the body. Depending on the level and type of injury, it can affect movement, sensation, breathing, bladder and bowel function and skin health.
People often need skilled support with personal care, bowel and bladder care and pressure care, and some need ventilation support. Victoria's statewide spinal service is at Austin Health, with rehabilitation at Royal Talbot.

Do you take referrals from spinal rehabilitation units?
Yes. We work with hospital and rehab teams on discharge planning, handover and staff training.
